Elm Yard

IMA were asked by The Great Ropemaker Partnership to develop a scheme for the refurbishment of Elm Yard, a 1960's office building previously occupied by The Serious Fraud Office.

Elm Yard is located adjacent to the Bloomsbury Conservation area in the London Borough of Camden.

The building is approximately 60,000 sq ft. The concrete frame structure was over-clad in the early 1980's using natural anodised spandrel cladding and double strip windows.

The scheme involved stripping the interiors back to shell while retaining and refurbishing both the cladding and windows to improve their performance. The new office interiors include new wall cladding, ceiling rafts, LED office lighting and new air conditioning. The bathrooms were completely refurbished on all floors, the reception remodelled and new offices formed in the original basement space.
