IMA's first project in collaboration with Grimshaw was for the design of Herman Miller's factory in Chippenham, Wiltshire. The building was completed in 1983 with an area of 68,000 Sq Ft.

The new low slung bright blue building on the edge of Chippenham is precisley what you would expect for a firm like Herman Miller, in the design world its name is inextricably linked with that of Charles Eames, one of the great furniture designers of this century. Made fro standard components welded and bolted together, it is an exemplar of the clip-together modular design aesthetic which is at the root of High-Tech design............ Sutherland Lyall 1983
